Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic signed Odsonne Edouard on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017.

David Provan has suggested in The Scottish Sun that Celtic should sign Odsonne Edouard on a permanent contract from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.

Edouard joined Celtic on a season-long loan deal from PSG in the summer of 2017, and has scored six goals and provided two assists in 19 Scottish Premiership appearances this season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

According to a report in The Daily Mail in January 2018, the Glasgow giants will have to pay PSG a transfer fee of £7 million in order to secure the services of the youngster on a permanent contract.

Celtic legend Provan has suggested that the Hoops should sign the 20-year-old forward and rising star on a permanent contract, but the former Scotland international winger does not think that the Bhoys will do so.

Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun: “Peter Lawwell should be breaking the bank to keep Edouard. But it’s more likely the record £6million transfer fee paid for John Hartson 17 years ago will remain unbroken.”

Good signing?

Edouard has done well for Celtic this season, especially considering that he has not started regularly and has often been used as an impact substitute.

For the Glasgow giants, £7m is quite a lot of money to spend on a 20-year-old who has made just 19 league appearances, but if the Hoops want to progress as a club and make major impact in the Champions League in the coming years, then they will need to spend money in transfer windows.
