David Provan has criticised Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths in The Scottish Sun.
The Celtic legend has said that he is disappointed that Griffiths did not return from lockdown in the right shape for the Hoops’ training camp.
The former Scotland international winger has also slammed the Scotland international striker for being too active on social media.
Provan has added that he does not think that Celtic manager Neil Lennon will give Griffiths another chance.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers did not travel with his Celtic teammates for their pre-season friendly matches in France after returning to training overweight from lockdown.
Lennon himself criticised the 29-year-old, but said that he will not send him out on loan, as quoted in The Scottish Sun.
Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun: “Disappointing to watch a talent like Leigh Griffiths flush his career down the toilet.
“When he could be repaying Celtic for their support during his mental health issues, he’s sticking two fingers up at Neil Lennon instead.
“Mug punters still offering Griff sympathy need to wise up. Missing the games in France through lack of fitness was unforgiveable.
“At 29, he should be starring for Celtic and Scotland. Instead, he’s becoming a circus act on social media. I wouldn’t bet on Lennon giving him another chance.”

Back in contention
While it was disappointing to see Griffiths not fit enough for Celtic, latest reports suggest that things are improving.
According to The Glasgow Evening Times, the 29-year-old has trained with the rest of the team since they returned from France.
Celtic will take on Ross County on Sunday and Hibernian on Monday in pre-season friendlies, and it will be interesting to see if Lennon selects Griffiths for these games.
