David Provan has written in The Scottish Sun that Celtic should start Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard against Steven Gerrard’s Rangers at Ibrox this weekend.

Rangers will take on bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.

Celtic legend Provan believes that if the Hoops are to win the match, then they have to have a go at the Gers.

The Scotsman has urged Celtic interim-manager John Kennedy to play strikers Griffiths and Edouard together in attack.

Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun: “Having tipped Celtic to beat Rangers in the Scottish Cup, I can’t say I much fancy their chances at Ibrox. Too many of John Kennedy’s players are in the departure lounge.

“But if they’re to come up short again, I hope Kennedy lets them die with their boots on. If the interim boss is to end Gers’ unbeaten league run he has to have a proper go.

“Playing Leigh Griffiths up alongside Odsonne Edouard would be a good start.”

Big game for Celtic

While Celtic have nothing to play for except pride, a win against Rangers will see Gerrard’s team suffer their first defeat of the season in the Scottish Premiership.

That will certainly motivate the Hoops, and interim-manager Kennedy should have a go at Rangers.

Rangers beat Celtic in the Scottish Cup last month and will fancy their chances of winning again, but with James Forrest available, the Bhoys will hope to at least put up a better fight.

Celtic have nothing to lose, and taking the game to Rangers would be a good idea for the Bhoys.
