David Provan has suggested in The Scottish Sun that Leigh Griffiths should be Celtic’s highest-paid player.

The former Celtic and Scotland international winger rates the striker highly.

“But if Deila’s legacy was poor, Brendan has inherited at least one gold nugget — Leigh Griffiths,” Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun. “If Griff isn’t the highest-paid player in that dressing room he needs a new agent. The wee guy’s been inspirational.”

“My good buddy Scott Brown would disagree, but Griffiths is Rodgers’ biggest talent,” added the Scotsman. “When Celtic are up against it, it’s Griff who’s likely to find a goal from nowhere.

“He’s got a bit to go to join the ranks of great Celtic strikers, but there’s nothing stopping him.”

Griffiths is arguably the best striker in the Scottish Premiership at the moment.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers man has shown his quality for the Bhoys and has established himself as one of the best players in the team.

The 26-year-old striker scored as many as 31 goals in the Scottish Premiership during the 2015-16 campaign.

Griffiths has already been among the goals for the Hoops this season, and the former Dundee striker is likely to carry on with his good run of form.

Celtic are second in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with six points from two matches.

Brendan Rodgers’s side are a point behind Old Firm rivals Rangers, who are currently at the top of the standings.

However, the Bhoys have played a fewer game and are favourites to win the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Celtic will take on Aberdeen at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon.
