The Celtic legend has pointed out how the former Liverpool manager transformed Celtic when he was in charge of the Glasgow giants.
Rodgers was appointed the manager of the Hoops in the summer of 2016, and he left for Leicester in the Premier League in February 2019.
During his time at Celtic Park, Rodgers won the Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish Cup twice each, and the Scottish League Cup on three occasions.
Provan has praised Rodgers for his achievements at Celtic, and has reminded the Celtic Park faithful of the football the team played under him.
Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun: “Rodgers is still viewed as a Judas by a section of the support but he changed the club from top to bottom — right down to demanding a better pitch.
“Winning the title by 30 points in his first season was impressive but that was only the start. By the time he left, he had rewritten the history books. The Invincible season was testimony to Rodgers’ influence. Standards weren’t allowed to drop, nobody allowed to go through the motions.
“That philosophy saw Rodgers hoover up seven trophies in a row before his fractious departure for Leicester City. And if he left Lennon with a bit of work to do to complete Eight in a Row, he could claim to have given supporters a team that was always worth watching.
“Yeah, the timing of his exit left a sour taste but his time in Glasgow was a golden period for the club. He may be a divisive figure within the support but Rodgers played his part getting Celts to title number eight.”

Huge success
Rodgers’s departure for Leicester may have made Celtic fans feel bad and disappointed, but looking back, there is no doubt that he was a huge success during his time at Celtic Park.
The Hoops played brilliant football and were very entertaining to watch, and the Invincible season is something that all fans will cherish forever.
Celtic have been declared winners of the Scottish Premiership this campaign on a points-per-game basis after the season was called off early due to the global health crisis.
