Steven Gerrard has been in charge of Rangers since the summer of 2018.
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard
The Celtic legend believes that Gerrard has not been exposed to the same level of criticism that his predecessors Pedro Caixinha and Mark Warburton were.
Provan has highlighted Rangers struggling in the second half of the last season to maintain their challenge for the Scottish Premiership title.
Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun: “Lennon still faces a section of the support who’re not having him. Contrast that with Gerrard, who, despite handling himself impressively, has won nothing.
“Yet somehow the Anfield legend still has the Rangers support eating out of his hand. Compared to most of his predecessors, Stevie is leading a charmed life.
“Can you imagine if Pedro Caixinha had presided over Gers’ late league collapse of last season?
“How much stick would Mark Warburton have copped if he’d gone out of both cups to Aberdeen?”

Postive vibe
True, Rangers have not won any major trophy under Gerrard and their performances in the cup competitions have been disappointment, but what the Liverpool legend has brought back to Ibrox is hope and belief that the team can challenge Celtic on a regular basis.
Gerrard also guided Rangers to the group stage of the Europa League last season as as well as this campaign, and that is not an easy thing to do.
While Warburton and Caixinha are good managers, they were unable to convince the Ibrox faithful that Rangers can catch Celtic, which Gerrard has done.
