Celtic legend David Provan has spoken highly of Nottingham Forest-owned Rangers defender Joe Worrall in The Scottish Sun.

Provan, who was on the books of Celtic from 1978 until 1987, was impressed with the performance of Worrall for Rangers against Villarreal in the Europa League last week.

The 21-year-old defender was making his debut for Rangers, as he featured in the match against Villarreal at El Madrigal last Thursday evening.

Former Celtic and Scotland international winger Provan was impressed with the display produced by the Forest-owned Rangers defender.

Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun: “If Allan McGregor and Kyle Lafferty were Gers’ best, Joe Worrall wasn’t far behind on his debut. The England Under-21 man looks a class act.”

Quality footballer

Worrall has struggled to play regularly for Forest, and while it is still early days for the defenders at Rangers, the 21-year-old defender does look a very promising talent for the Gers.

It is going to be hard for the England Under-21 international to establish himself as a regular in Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side, but there is no doubt that he has the quality and the talent to do just that.
