Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers needs to add to his current squad at Celtic Park and bring players in during the summer transfer window, suggests David Provan.

The 61-year-old former Celtic and Kilmarnock winger has highlighted what the Bhoys are lacking at the moment and has underlined Brendan Rodgers’s need to address the issues in order to be successful in the Champions League.
“With the quality of opposition about to be ramped up, Celtic need to add some class,” Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun. “At the moment, Celtic don’t have one centre-back they can rely on at the highest level.
“Further forward they still lack a midfielder with the ‘scalpel’ pass. Apparently, Celtic completed 800 passes in the home game against Rosenborg. What good are 800 passes without a goal?
“Elsewhere, the long-term injury to Dembele exposes how light they are up front. To address these weaknesses, Rodgers will need help in the next couple of weeks.”

Defender
Provan is right about Celtic lacking a top-quality central defender. True, Dedryck Boyata is injured at the moment and Rivaldo Coetzee is on his way to Celtic Park (click here to read more), but neither is exactly ‘top-class’.
The centre-backs that Celtic have at the moment are good enough to be successful in the Champions League, but would the Glasgow giants be able to attract a top-quality player in that position?
Midfield
Celtic have a strong midfield, and that is going to be get stronger when Patrick Roberts joins on loan from Manchester City in the summer transfer window (as reported by The Scottish Sun).
Roberts is a winger, but the 20-year-old cuts inside and is very creative. An attacking midfielder in the mould of Kris Commons would be useful, but the Glasgow giants do have enough quality players in midfield.

Striker
According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers wants to sign a striker in the summer transfer window.
A striker is going to add depth to Celtic’s attack, but Leigh Griffiths is playing well at the moment. Once Moussa Dembele returns from his injury, the Hoops will look very strong in that department.
