Glasgow Rangers defender Jon Flanagan was cited for elbowing Celtic midfielder Scott Brown at Ibrox this month.

Rangers full-back Flanagan was shown a yellow card after he appeared to elbow Celtic midfielder Brown inside the Gers’ penalty box while a corner was about to be taken 10 minutes into the second half in the Scottish Premiership game between the two sides on May 12.
Steven Gerrard’s side went on to pick up all three points from the Old Firm derby at Ibrox courtesy of a 2-0 win.
A three-man panel subsequently decided that it was a red-card offence, and the 26-year-old former Liverpool defender was charged.
However, an independent panel dismissed the case, and no action has been taken against the Englishman.
Celtic legend Provan has suggested that Rangers should have taken action against Flanagan instead of appealing against the decision taken against him, and has criticised the players’ indiscipline.

Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun: “In a season where idiotic indiscipline cost Rangers any chance of the title, Gers should also have hammered Flanagan for putting the Old Firm result in jeopardy.
“Sure, Jozo Simunovic was lucky to avoid a similar charge but that doesn’t excuse Flanagan’s madness. Steven Gerrard has had his throat cut by players’ stupidity this season.”
