Celtic are reportedly interested in Scott McKenna of Aberdeen.
According to The Times, McKenna put in a transfer request at Aberdeen after bids from Queens Park Rangers and Nottingham Forest in the Championship.
However, the Scottish Premiership club reportedly turned it down and wanted as much as £7m as transfer fee for the 22-year-old Scotland international defender.
The summer transfer window in England is now closed, but it is open in Scotland and Celtic could still sign the youngest.
The Bristol Post has claimed of interest in McKenna from Celtic, who could do with a promising and experienced defender such as the 22-year-old in their team.
Celtic legend Provan has suggested that the Aberdeen defender is worth more than £7m.
Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun: “Hats off to Scott McKenna after Aberdeen knocked back his transfer request. The Scotland defender could have put the Dons up against the wall by throwing a sickie, but pulled on the boots in Rijeka instead.
“If Harry Maguire is worth £80m, McKenna would have been a steal for English clubs at £7m. But as the centre-back prepares for another shift at Pittodrie, he’ll be asking himself: If he’s a £7m player, why aren’t Aberdeen paying him like one?”
Good signing for Celtic?
Celtic have a good and strong squad, but the Hoops could do with a central defender, and manager Neil Lennon should make a move for McKenna in the summer transfer window.
