The former Celtic winger suggested that Sheffield United signing Oliver McBurnie from Swansea City for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £20 million instead of Morelos from Rangers suggests that clubs in England do not rate the Ibrox ace too highly.
Provan has suggested that Rangers manager Steven Gerrard now has to get the 23-year-old striker to play well for the Gers.
Provan wrote about Morelos in The Scottish Sun: “Then there’s the Alfredo Morelos dilemma. You can bet Mark Allen already has Morelos’ replacement lined up but Gers need to shift the Colombian first.
“Unsurprisingly, the big-money stampede for the striker didn’t materialise. With the English transfer window closing this Thursday, Gerrard may yet have to massage Morelos’ ego for another season.
“Gers will have a car sat at the front door of Ibrox with the engine running in hope of an offer, but they shouldn’t hold their breath. Sheffield United’s signing of Oli McBurnie ahead of Morelos tells you how the Colombian is regarded in England.
“The trick now for Gerrard is to get Morelos’ head right for another season in Scotland. Remember, this is a boy who’s already said he wants out of Rangers to play in a bigger league.”

Morelos scored 18 goals and provided four assists in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers last season, according to BBC Sport.
During the 2018-19 campaign, the Colombia international scored 14 goals and provided six assists in the league for Gers, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Rangers finished second in the Scottish Premiership table last season and pushed their bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic during the first half of the campaign.
