David Preece has predicted on social networking site Twitter that Alim Ozturk will cost Sunderland goals this season.

Preece made the comments about Ozturk following Sunderland’s match against Sheffield Wednesday at home this week.

League One club Sunderland took on Championship side Wednesday at the Stadium of Light in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Thursday evening.

Ozturk started the tie and played for the entire 90 minutes, as the Black Cats lost 2-0.

The 25-year-old defender was at fault for the Owls’ first goal on 29 minutes, and Preece was not impressed with the summer signing.

The 41-year-old former Aberdeen goalkeeper, who started his professional club football career at Sunderland but failed to make a competitive appearance for the Black Cats’ first team, stated on Twitter that the former Turkey Under-21 international looks a liability.
