West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian is reportedly wanted by Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.

The signing of Joe Hart on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City in the summer transfer window means that Adrian is no longer guaranteed to be the first-choice goalkeeper at West Ham United.

Adrian lost his spot in the West Ham starting lineup last season and had to fight for a place in the team with Darren Randolph, who moved to Championship club Middlesbrough this month.

The 30-year-old Spanish goalkeeper was able to make just 16 appearances in the Premier League last season, and Hart’s arrival means that he is likely to play even fewer games during the 2017-18 campaign.

According to The Daily Mail, West Ham are ready to let Adrian leave in the summer transfer window, with Premier League rivals Newcastle United and Crystal Palace interested in him.

The Mirror has also credited Newcastle and Palace with interest in the former Real Betis goalkeeper who has been on the books of West Ham since 2013.

Former Sunderland man David Preece has described Adrian as “good” on social networking site Twitter.

The 40-year-old former goalkeeper did not make a single league appearance for Newcastle’s bitter rivals Sunderland during his time at the Stadium of Light in the 1990s, but he featured for the likes of Aberdeen and Barnsley during his playing career.

Preece has now earned a reputation as a very good pundit and columnist, and the Englishman seems to rate West Ham goalkeeper and (reported) Newcastle target Adrian highly.

West Ham United's Adrian looks dejected

Meanwhile, Newcastle defender Jamaal Lascelles has praised new summer signing Florian Lejeune. The 26-year-old defender moved to the Magpies from Spanish club Eibar earlier this month.

“He looks impressive,” Lascelles told The Shields Gazette about Lejeune. “He’s a big boy. He’s pretty athletic and good on the ball.

“When he gets used to English football and the tempo, I think he’ll be a really good player for us. I think the manager’s done well in signing him.”
