David Pleat has told the Daily Mail that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola couldn’t be more incorrect when labelling Tottenham Hotspur as the ‘Harry Kane team.’

Guardiola made the rather disparaging remarks about Spurs last month, and Mauricio Pochettino has already responded angrily towards them.

And Pleat also feels that Tottenham’s win over Real Madrid proves that Guardiola was wrong to put all of his former side’s success down to Kane.

“The recent talk has been of a ‘Harry Kane team’. Nothing could be further from the truth,” Pleat said. “All the players have responded to their coach and reminded supporters of the great history of this club

Tottenham beat Real Madrid 3-1 in Champions League action on Wednesday evening, as they sent out a statement to the rest of Europe.

Spurs picked up one of the greatest results in the club’s history to prove that they were now a threat to any team across the world.

Tottenham scored their goals against Madrid through a brace from Dele Alli and a fine finish from Christian Eriksen.

Spurs have already booked their place in the Champions League knockout stages now, and they look to have a chance of going a long way in Europe’s top competition.

Tottenham are next in action on Sunday, when they take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
