David Ospina has made a decision on Arsenal future, his father claims

David Ospina left Premier League powerhouses Arsenal last summer to join Carlo Ancelotti’s Napoli on loan, where he has started 13 Serie A games.

David Ospina is keen to stay at Napoli and bring an end to his time at Arsenal, the goalkeeper’s father told Radio CRC on Monday (18 March, 12pm).

The experienced shot-stopper arrived at The Emirates from Nice in the summer of 2014 after impressing for Colombia at the Brazilian World Cup, The Gunners paying around £3 million (BBC).

But Opsina never established himself as the club’s number one under Arsene Wenger, partly due to the impressive form of Petr Cech, and was quickly farmed out once Unai Emery took over at The Emirates.

The 30-year-old is currently on loan at Napoli and it seems that he is keen to commit his future to Carlo Ancelotti’s side should the opportunity arise.

“We are waiting for the conditions to be reached for the signing of Napoli from Arsenal,” Ospina’s father, Hernan, said.

“He is happy to play at Napoli and that’s what he wants. Even the club has sent positive signals. It gives us a lot of joy because even children are happy to live in a city like Naples.”

Ospina has impressed in Serie A this season, starting 13 games for the Partenopei as he continues to share goalkeeping duties with Alex Meret. And, according to the 42, Napoli have the option to buy him on a permanent basis at the end of the season – an option they seem likely to take up.
