Tottenham Hotspur are poised to appoint a new director of football but the arrival is expected to be ‘relatively low-key’.

A new director of football will be heading to Tottenham Hotspur very soon as the club’s new era takes shape.

Spurs landed a new boss over the summer with Ange Postecoglou coming in from Celtic.

That move has worked out perfectly so far and he has been joined by a fellow Australian in Scott Munn.

Formerly of the City Football Group, Munn has become Tottenham’s new Chief Football Officer – and another appointment is coming.

Tottenham Hotspur poised to land new director of football

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has been publishing a Q&A session this afternoon and was asked about Tottenham’s plans for a new appointment.

Fabio Paratici previously held that position but has left the club following his worldwide ban earlier this year.

Tottenham have also parted ways with chief scout Leonardo Gabbanini, signalling a change of direction with recruitment.

Ornstein claims that Tottenham ‘have a plan in place’ and that an appointment is on the way.

Ornstein doesn’t have a name but has been told that the new man will be a ‘relatively low-key’ appointment, somewhat similar to Postecoglou.

“I’m told Spurs have a plan in place, David. I don’t have a name but the last I heard the appointment is expected to be relatively low-key – a bit like Postecoglou – rather than a huge name. The club will hope the new man fits in fairly seamlessly to the new structure being implemented by Daniel Levy and Scott Munn,” said Ornstein.

Postecoglou wasn’t a huge ‘wow’ name when he made the move from Celtic to Tottenham but looks like the right man for Spurs – and they will hope for similar success with this next move.

Who could Tottenham appoint?

A number of names have been linked with Tottenham in recent times.

Tottenham held talks with Roma’s Tiago Pinto but he backed away from the race according to iNews.

Brentford’s Lee Dykes as in contention back in May and may well fit the description of being a relatively low-key appointment.

Dykes isn’t a huge name but has been a key part of an impressive Brentford project.

Johannes Spors was one option but talks with him broke down in May according to Fabrizio Romano.

Bild reporter Tobi Altschaffl claimed in June that Tottenham had made a move for Bayern Munich’s Marco Neppe.

Leaving Bayern for Spurs would be a bold decision at the moment and the rumours have died down of late.

Spurs appear to have their new man lined up, but the identity of Tottenham’s incoming transfer chief remains unclear.
