Liverpool supporters are exciting about transfers at the moment.
Speculation is mounting that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could potentially bolster his options during the January transfer window.
According to The Athletic, the Anfield outfit are keen on a number of exciting attacking players.
Some footballers linked with a switch to Merseyside are Porto’s Luis Diaz and Villarreal livewire Arnaut Danjuma, among others.
However, are Liverpool really going to be signing anyone during the winter? Well, according to David Ornstein, the answer is that arrivals are unlikely.
Disappointment
The Athletic journalist has revealed what he has heard about Liverpool’s plan for the 2021-22 campaign, claiming that the £36 million addititon of Ibrahima Konate last summer was always supposed to be the only addition made by the Reds this season.
He said: “Liverpool do have previous for making signings somewhat out of the blue yet nothing seems to be brewing at present and, from what I hear, the only acquisition they planned for the 2021-22 season was Ibrahima Konate.”
Honestly, that revelation, if accurate, is certainly going to deflate the fanbase in January.
Remember, Liverpool absolutely need reinforcements because we’re only midway through the campaign and the German manager’s outfit are already 11 points adrift of Manchester City.
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will be absent for a chunk of January because of Africa Cup of Nations duty, meaning that Ornstein’s comments will – and should – disappoint the supporters no end.
