Arsenal are enduring a difficult season, and nobody quite sums up the struggles like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners lost 2-0 at rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon, meaning they once again failed to find the net.

Arsenal have scored just twice in their last seven games, and they were a penalty and then a header from a set piece.

Mikel Arteta’s men are struggling to create from open play, and Aubameyang looks like a shadow of his former self.

Aubameyang has only scored twice this season, and after having three shots on target on the opening day of the season, he’s only managed six since.

The 31-year-old signed a new deal over the summer, and some have accused him of downing tools having received his big pay day.

That is pretty unfounded, but whether he’s played out wide or up top, Aubameyang just hasn’t managed to hit top form this season.

Now, The Athletic’s David Ornstein claims he’s been told that Aubameyang hasn’t lost any confidence as things stand, but he just needs service to get himself firing again.

“I don’t buy into this suggestion that his contract has knocked his form, I just feel that he’s not getting the service that he needs to score those goals,” said Ornstein.

“We’re told that his confidence is rock-solid, and it looks more an unhappiness that things aren’t going well for the club, or for him on the pitch at the moment,” he added.
