Earlier this week, it was said that Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in taking Raheem Sterling from Premier League rivals Manchester City.
The England international becomes a free agent in June 2023, and he is yet to sign a new contract at the Etihad Stadium.
Now, however, David Ornstein has poured cold water on Arsenal and Tottenham’s hopes of signing Sterling.
What’s the story?
Well, by the sounds of it, the 27-year-old won’t be moving to north London.
Writing in The Athletic, Ornstein revealed that Sterling has no interest in joining Mikel Arteta at the Emirates Stadium, despite working alongside the Spaniard in Manchester.
In Tottenham’s case, the Kingston-born forward also has little desire to join Antonio Conte in N17 – if he is to leave Manchester City, The Athletic believe Sterling wants to join one of Europe’s most decorated teams.
So far this season, the Manchester City No.7 has scored 17 goals in 46 appearances, while also providing eight assists.

Arsenal are supposedly prepared to make Sterling their focal point if he swaps Manchester for north London.
However, it doesn’t seem like that will be enough to lure him away from Pep Guardiola.
Raheem Sterling should join Arsenal or Tottenham
In our view, Sterling should take the plunge and leave Manchester City for one of the north London-based clubs.
Under Guardiola, the Liverpool Academy graduate is often used as a substitute – he is far too good to be treated like that.
Sterling has made six appearances from the bench in the Premier League, and has also been introduced from the sidelines on seven occasions in the Champions League.

Interestingly, Guardiola also left him out of the starting XI in both legs of the Champions League semi-final clash against Real Madrid.
At Arsenal or Tottenham, Sterling can become the talisman, and get the spotlight he deserves.
Keep an eye on this situation, as anything could happen this summer.
