Arsenal are reportedly looking at a deal to bring Napoli striker Victor Osimhen to the Emirates in the summer. The Gunners need a striker, and Osimhen could fit the bill – especially, given David Ospina’s recent verdict.
Osimhen, 23, has been in excellent form for Napoli this season – scoring 10 goals in 17 games in all competitions. A recent facial injury has hampered his progress, but he has already scored the same amount he did last term.
The Nigeria international missed the African Cup of Nations due to the injury – but 20 goals in 47 games for Napoli has attracted interest from Arsenal. The Mirror claim the Gunners have made him a summer ‘priority’.
In the January window, a report from CalcioMercato claimed that interested parties would need to spend between £58million and £66million to nab him. Arsenal should be tempted, given Opsina’s praise in October 2021.
Speaking about Osimhen to Napoli’s website, Opsina said: “In front of us then we have talented men who can always score. Osimhen is proving his worth not only for the goals but also for the work he is doing for the team.”

It has been well-documented that come the summer, Arsenal need to sign a striker. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has moved to Barcelona permanently. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract in June.
It leaves just Gabi Martinelli – who is preferred on the left. Flo Balogun is on loan at Middlesbrough, but not yet seen as the required standard. Dusan Vlahovic, Dom Calvert-Lewin, Alexander Isak and more have been linked.
But Mikel Arteta wants his Arsenal side to press and more than any of the aforementioned strikers, Osimhen is best for it – as Ospina states. His work rate, alongside his goals, is excellent. He is perfect for Arsenal’s side.
