Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford in the summer transfer window.

Sunderland are set to go down to the Championship at the end of the season. While manager David Moyes will be criticised, the players also have to share the blame.
There are not too many players in the current Sunderland squad who could claim that they have played well.
Jordan Pickford is not among them, though. The 23-year-old goalkeeper has been one of the best players for the Black Cats this season.
The England Under-21 international has made many important saves, and if Sunderland get relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season, then it could be hard for them to keep hold of him.
According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs interested in Pickford. Arsenal, Manchester City and Everton are also reported to be interested in the goalkeeper, who is claimed to be rated at £15 million.
Leaving Sunderland for Tottenham would be a step-up for Pickford, but the problem is that he is not going to play regularly.
Hugo Lloris is the indisputable first-choice goalkeeper at Spurs, and the Englishman would have to fight with Michel Vorm for the number two role.
From this perspective, Sunderland manager David Moyes’s advice for Pickford makes sense.
Moyes believes that the goalkeeper should stay at the Stadium of Light and continue to play regularly, instead of leaving for another club where he would have to fight for a place in the first team.
“He’s good enough to play for just about any club – but he can’t afford a year when he’s not playing,” Moyes told The Mirror about Pickford. “It would be a backward step if he wasn’t going to be a No.1 keeper, so he needs to keep playing.”
