David Moyes wasn’t too pleased with Mo Salah as he told Football London that he ‘threw himself’ to the ground during Liverpool’s recorded a 2-1 win against his West Ham United on Saturday.

The former Everton boss was pretty forthright with his opinion, as Richard Keys defended his comments on beIN SPORTS (01/11/20 at 6:30 pm) and made it clear that he wasn’t accusing the Liverpool man of being a ‘cheat’ despite the English press dressing it up that way.

West Ham had taken the lead through Pablo Fornals inside the first 10 minutes, but just before the break, Liverpool were awarded a controversial spot-kick.

Referee Kevin Friend judged that Salah was fouled by Arthur Masuaka inside the penalty area, but Moyes was pretty clear that he ‘throws himself to the ground’ rather than being fouled.

“I think he throws himself to the ground,” said Moyes. “He expects the ref to do something the way he threw himself but it went the other way.

“We’re really disappointed we didn’t come away with something.”

From West Ham’s perspective, what didn’t help their cause is that Salah was the one who put the ball into the back of the net to level the scores.

In the end, Liverpool would go onto seal all three points, with substitutes Diogo Jota and Xherdan Shaqiri combining to push the champions to the top of the table.

Whilst the Hammers will be disappointed that they left Merseyside without any points, they should be encouraged by the start they have made to the new campaign.

Given how things were panning out for them in the transfer market when the window was still open, and the negative mood around the London Stadium, Moyes has done well to get the team playing as well as they have been.
