West Ham United boss David Moyes has hailed Aston Villa’s recruitment and pointed towards Ollie Watkins as a brilliant signing.
Speaking to Football London, ahead of West Ham’s game against Villa this evening, Moyes was very complimentary of the squad which Dean Smith had put together at Villa Park.
And the addition of Watkins was one which Moyes singled out as an excellent piece of transfer business.
“I think it all comes down to recruitment, last year Dean Smith brought in one or two players and it took them time to settle or it didn’t quite work,” he said.
“This year after they have scraped through last year I think they have signed very good players and also they have improving players within their team.
“The likes of Grealish who has greatly improved, John McGinn has greatly improved, Tyrone Mings who has improved greatly, Konsa and they have added to that with people like Olly Watkins. and one or two others as well.
“They have got a good side and I think they have recruitment very well and I think that is why they are in the position they are in.”

Watkins has indeed made Villa more of a goal threat this term, with the striker seamlessly adjusting to life in the Premier League.
Watkins already has eight goals in the Premier League this term, and he has featured in every league game so far for Smith’s side.
West Ham may actually look on with some envious glances towards Watkins, as they wanted a striker of their own in January.
The Hammers lost Sebastien Haller last month and were desperately trying to find a replacement, but they were unable to recruit a new number nine.
West Ham go into tonight’s game in fifth place in the Premier League table, while Villa sit in ninth.
