West Ham United are set to take on Manchester City at the weekend.

David Moyes, Manager of Sunderland gives his team instructions during the Premier League match between Arsenal and Sunderland at Emirates Stadium on May 16, 2017 in London, England.

West Ham United boss David Moyes has hinted to the London Evening Standard that Michail Antonio could start for his side against Manchester City.

West Ham go into their game against City as heavy outsiders to pick up the three points.

But Moyes feels that his side should be boosted by the news that Antonio could be available from the start.

He said: “Michail Antonio came on in the second half and will be better for that. On Sunday we would hope he could play longer, maybe from the start.

“I want players, when they come back in, to be fit enough to make a difference.”

Antonio has been out injured since midway through October, when he picked up a rib injury, and he has been missed.

West Ham have failed to win a match in Antonio’s absence, and the former Nottingham Forest man was unable to stop his side falling to a heavy defeat against Everton.

Antonio came on for the last half-hour of West Ham’s match on Wednesday night, but Moyes’ side ended up falling to a 4-0 defeat at Goodison Park.

West Ham have now failed to win any of Moyes’ first three games in charge, and there are serious concerns that relegation is becoming a real possibility.

The Hammers are currently in 18th place in the Premier League table, and after taking on City they face games against Chelsea and Arsenal.
