Will David Moyes be in charge of West Ham United next season?
Moyes was appointed the West Ham manager in November 2017 following the departure of Slaven Bilic from the London Stadium and will remain in charge of the Hammers until the end of the season.
“I’ve been asked about my position frequently in the past few weeks and my answer is still the same,” Moyes wrote in The London Evening Standard. “I want to get the club safe first and foremost — and then take it from there.
“That doesn’t mean I’m not making plans for next season. Whatever my future, I am employed by the club until the end of the season and my job here is to think ahead and try to improve things.
“I’ve already outlined the pre-season programme and I’m due to go abroad and check out a few training camps during the international break this month. We also plan to advertise for a head of recruitment going forward.”
Hint on future?
Moyes’s comments suggest that he plans to remain at West Ham next season, although one suspects that it will depend on a number of factors.
If the Hammers secure their Premier League status for the 2018-19 campaign, then it is likely that the former Everton and Manchester United boss will be in charge of the London club next season.
West Ham co-chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan will probably also look at the situation at the end of the season, and decide on whether or not to hand Moyes a new deal.
Moyes is doing a decent job at West Ham at the moment, and it would make sense for the Premier League club to keep him in charge next season.
