West Ham United are still in the relegation mix, despite an upturn in form since the Scot took over.
West Ham boss David Moyes addressed the media today, ahead of his side’s vitally important clash with Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium tomorrow, and highlighted how key the Hammers’ support will be to their hopes of avoiding the drop this season, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The east London outfit currently sit in 13th position in the Premier League table, but they are just three points clear of 18th placed Swansea, so tomorrow’s game is a relegation six pointer, and one that neither side can afford to lose.
West Ham have certainly improved since Moyes took over at the London Stadium back in November, and they will be looking to string together a few wins in quick succession, to put to bed any talk of relegation to the Championship.
The Scot spoke to reporters during his pre-match press conference today, and explained how the Hammers faithful realised that the players needed their full support, following his appointment as manager back in November, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“I’ve got to say, since I’ve been here, the support has been good. I think they’ve realised we need their support and their backing, and they’ve been with the team. We want everybody together and I think that to give West Ham the best chance and for us to start competing again and be challenging some of the top teams in the future we need everybody together.”
West Ham can climb as high as 10th spot int he table with a win tomorrow, whilst a defeat would see them really dragged deep into trouble, and they will need their travelling fans to be at their vocal best in Wales, if they are to return to east London with a positive result under their belts.
