The West Ham United forward has been magnificent over recent weeks.
Hammers boss David Moyes addressed the media during his post-match press conference yesterday, and raved about the performance of Marko Arnautovic, highlighting how the Austrian has managed to turn things around at West Ham, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The 28-year-old joined the east London side from Stoke City in the summer, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £24 million, but really struggled to establish himself at the London Stadium, failing to score in his first 13 outings for the club.
Arnautovic has been magnificent since Moyes took over, however, and has scored six goals, along with chalking up three assists in his last eight appearances for the Hammers.
Incredibly, West Ham now sit in 11th position in the table, just nine points adrift of seventh placed Burnley, and everything all of a sudden seems to be a whole lot brighter in east London.
Moyes spoke to reporters after his side’s superb 4-1 away win at Huddersfield yesterday, and shared what he was told about Arnautovic when he took over at the club in November, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“I’m really pleased with Marko. Everybody told me he hadn’t performed before I came, but everybody knew how good he was at Stoke City, and that’s why we paid a big fee for him. Giving him a freer role up front has given him a chance to show other sides to his game as well, with the effort and the way he has worked.”
If the Austria international can continue his fine run of form, the Hammers will surely have an excellent chance of making a sustained push for the top seven this season.
