The West Ham United forward has been in superb form this season.
West Ham boss David Moyes spoke to reporters about Marko Arnautovic’s fine recent run of form, and shared what he told the Austrian when he was handed the reigns at the London Stadium way back in November 2017, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The 28-year-old joined the Hammers from Stoke City in the summer, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £24 million, and despite initially struggling to settle in east London, he has firmly established himself as one of Moyes’ most important players.
Arnautovic has chipped in with nine goals and three assists in 24 Premier League outings for West Ham, with all of those coming in his last 13 appearances.
Moyes offered high words of praise for the Austria international, when speaking to reporters, and opened up on the message he gave the forward when he took over as manager five months ago, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“We’ve just given him a licence to go and show what he can do, but also with the instructions that he has got to be a big team player as well and he has done that. He has shown individual qualities with his goalscoring and his finishing but, when we’ve needed him to work for the team and do the jobs required, he’s been good at it and he’s helped us.”
Next up for the Hammers is a trip to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea tomorrow, and Arnie will have to be at his very best, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of returning to east London with anything to show for their efforts.
