West Ham United have been enjoying a mid-season break in Miami.
West Ham boss David Moyes spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, during his his side’s mid-season training camp in Miami, and shared how he is hoping that the decision to take the players away will prove to be the right one over the coming weeks and months.
The Hammers are currently sitting precariously in 17th spot in the Premier League table, just two points clear of the drop zone, and there is genuine concern that they could be relegated to the Championship this season.
Moyes undoubtedly had an impact when he was handed the reigns at the London Stadium way back in November, but his side have struggled badly recently, winning just one Premier League game since January 13th.
The Scot spoke to reporters during his side’s mid-season training camp in Miami, and shared what he discussed with the players ahead of their return to England, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“The good thing was that we pulled together and we’ve talked about it and how we’re going to come back stronger and be much better if we can be. We trained hard, the players will tell you they worked hard on the days we had [sessions] and they had a bit of time in the afternoons, so some played golf and some went fishing and some sat at the pool so, all in all, it was good.”
Next up for West Ham is a crucial home game against Southampton on March 31st, and if they fail to win that match, serious questions will be asked regarding the wisdom behind taking the players away for a mid-season training camp.
