David Moyes has told Sky Sports that he encouraged his Sunderland side after their defeat to Everton yesterday.

However, Sunderland’s performance in the second half impressed Moyes.
And the Scottish boss said: “I have shaken the players’ hands in the dressing room and said keep it going.
“The second-half performance was good, the first half wasn’t good enough, but they showed a bit of bottle to take the ball and pass it better in the second half and try to play. We have to try to build on that.”
Sunderland’s best chance in the match came from Jermain Defoe, who hit the crossbar with a fierce shot.
The Black Cats’ luck was out though, with goals from Idrissa Gueye and Romelu Lukaku sealing the three points for the hosts.
Sunderland are still stuck at the foot of the Premier League table, and time is running out for them to get out of trouble.
The Black Cats are currently three points adrift of safety, with their next match coming against Manchester City.
