The West Ham United ace suffered a serious injury against Wigan Atheltic on Saturday.
Hammers boss David Moyes address the media today during his pre-match press conference, and shared what he described as ‘very good news’ regarding the injury sustained by Pedro Obiang during their FA Cup defeat to Wigan on Saturday, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.
The 25-year-old left the field of play at the DW Stadium after just 36 minutes, after suffering a knee injury, and with his importance to the West Ham side this season, the club’s management staff, players and fans all feared the worst.
Moyes, though, provided somewhat of a positive update on the Spaniard’s injury, when speaking to reporters at his pre-match press conference today, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London:
“It’s medial ligament so its one of those ones that you can’t get immediately on how long it will take [to recover] but it’s not a cruciate so that’s really good news. We are just waiting to see if he has ruptured his ligament. We are still checking it, he got scanned yesterday, I just don’t have an exact time of how long it will be.:
The Hammers face an incredibly important set of fixtures over the coming weeks and months, and losing Obiang for a prolonged period of time is the last thing they needed.
After Moyes’ comments today though, they will be hoping to have the 25-year-old back and available for selection sooner rather than later, as they continue their attempts to put distance between themselves and the relegation zone.
