The West Ham United ace has been a real hit since joining the club in the summer.

West Ham manager David Moyes addressed the media yesterday, ahead of his side’s clash with Manchester City on Sunday, and talked up the ability of Marko Arnautovic, suggesting that he wants the Austrian to take on more responsibility in the upcoming years, as quoted by the club’s official website.

The 29-year-old forward joined the Hammers from Stoke City in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £24 million, and despite initially struggling to settle in east London, he has firmly established himself as a real fan favourite.

Arnautovic has scored 10 goals in 27 Premier League appearances for West Ham this season, but all of those have come in his last 16 games, and since the turn of the year, he has been one of the top flight’s most feared hitmen.

Moyes, though, explained how he expects even more from the Austria international going forward, urging him to become a role model for the club’s youngsters, as quoted by the club’s official website:

“I’m always being asked about Marko Arnautovic’s form and how I have got him playing well, but I just feel that he has got another level in his locker if he wants it. He’s that good. He’s getting a bit older now at 29 so he has to be a little bit of a role model for the younger players. We want him to take a bigger lead. That’s maybe something he’s not used to but I want him to become an important member and a big player in the team.”

With Man City rolling into town on Sunday, Arnie will have to be at his very best, if his side are to have any chance whatsoever of beating Pep Guardiola’s side, but after scoring against both Chelsea and Arsenal this season, he will fancy his chances of at least disrupting City’s back-line.
