Everton totally dominated West Ham United on Wednesday, and David Moyes thinks he knows why.
Hammers boss David Moyes sat down for his pre-match press conference ahead of his side’s daunting trip to Manchester City on Sunday, and shared something that he noticed after rewatching West Ham’s woeful 4-0 defeat at Everton on Wednesday night, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The east London outfit currently find themselves in all sorts of trouble, and could not have asked for a tougher game next, with Pep Guardiola’s rampant City side comfortably sweeping aside any team that gets in their way.
A frequent criticism of the Hammers players this season has been their lack of passion and commitment – something that was expected to improve under Moyes’ tenure, but there have not been too many signs of that happening just yet.

And the Scot, who has taken charge of three games for West Ham so far, shared something that he noticed when rewatching the tape of his side’s heavy defeat to Everton in midweek, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“I think the first ten minutes the two teams were scared stiff. I’ve watched the game back. I think Wayne Rooney tried to do something in the game, take control, and ultimately he did. We didn’t – we didn’t take control and we’ve got to do better.”
A win for the Hammers at the Etihad on Sunday could take them out of the bottom three, and as unlikely as that seems, the players must go into the game believing that they are capable of beating City, otherwise they will have no chance.
