Moyes admits that he needs to coax more fight out of his Sunderland team, and he insists that they are reacting positively to his constructive criticism of their performances.
“As a manager I have to find ways of winning. I said they are giving their all,” Moyes said.
“I think they are lacking a bit of quality. I’ve got to find a bit of spirit, a bit of heart and a bit of toughness. I need them all that, when I’m getting on at them, that they are accepting it because they know it is for the best of the team.”
Sunderland lost their last match 2-0 to Everton at Goodison Park, and they were outplayed during the contest.
The Black Cats were well beaten by Ronald Koeman’s side, after goals from Idrissa Gueye and Romelu Lukaku.
Sunderland’s defeat to Everton has been very costly, as it leaves them three points adrift of safety.
Sunderland are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Manchester City at the Stadium of Light.
