West Ham United manager David Moyes raved about Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier on Sky Sports Premier League (10:18pm, December 11, 2020).
The Hammers got the better of Leeds 2-1 away from home at Elland Road in the Premier League on Friday evening.
Meslier made a number of saves throughout the 90 minutes, leaving West Ham boss Moyes impressed.
Moyes said about Meslier on Sky Sports Premier League (10:18pm, December 11, 2020): “I think he should have scored, but I think the outstanding player was the goalkeeper of Leeds. His saves were fantastic, and he was looking very impressive, I have got to say.”
How did Illan Meslier play against West Ham United?
Meslier has established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper at Leeds, and the 20-year-old had yet another good game against West Ham.
While one could argue that the Frenchman could have done better for the Hammers’ equaliser, for the rest of the game, he was in top form.
Meslier distributed the ball well and made a brilliant save to deny Fabian Balbuena.
Bouncing back
Leeds will be disappointed at the defeat to West Ham. It was their second successive in the Premier League following a 3-1 loss at the hands of Chelsea last weekend.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side will now be looking to bounce back from the defeat to West Ham.
The West Yorkshire club will take on Newcastle United at Elland Road in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.
