Moyes is looking to get Jack Rodwell’s career back on track at Sunderland.
David Moyes has admitted to the Mirror that he will probably whip Jack Rodwell harder than the rest of his Sunderland squad.
Moyes handed Rodwell his debut during their time at Everton when the midfielder was touted as a future star of the English game.
His career has not panned out that way though, as a move to Manchester City in 2012 saw his progress stall.
He has similarly struggled to impress at Sunderland since arriving in a £10 million deal back in 2014.
He is now be looking to get back on track under his former manager and Moyes says he will probably whip him harder than the rest of the Sunderland squad to ensure he can do just that.
“I hope I can help him,” he told the Mirror.
“Jack knows how I work – I’ll probably whip him harder than I will whip the others because I know what he’s capable of and I need to get him right.”
It now remains to be seen if Rodwell can get back on track under Moyes next season.
Injuries have long be a problem for him, with a series of hamstring problems over the years having played a major role in stopping him becoming the player many believed he would be.
Several managers have already failed to fix the issue and it will be interesting to discover if Moyes’ hard approach is the one that finally cracks the case.
