David Moyes has been full of praise of Tottenham manager Antonio Conte in his latest press conference – as per West Ham’s website – ahead of the two sides going head to head at the London Stadium on Wednesday night.

Tottenham come into the game after a wonderful start to the Premier League season. They have 10 points from a possible 12, after beating Nottingham Forest 2-0 on Sunday. Harry Kane has rid himself of the August voodoo, as well.

The England skipper has four Premier League goals, scoring both against Forest. Meanwhile, West Ham have made a difficult start to the campaign – but did register their first win of the season on Sunday. A 1-0 away win over Villa.

Moyes has brought in nine new signings, including the latest in club-record arrival Lucas Paqueta from Lyon. They have also won twice against Viborg, and will be looking to kick on. Speaking ahead of the game, Moyes discussed Conte.

“Antonio Conte is someone who knows how to win, how to set up his team to get results. I admire him because it’s not about style, he is only interested in winning. To be a top manager that has to really be at the forefront.

“You have to be able to win, and sometimes it is not done with the most degree of style. He is very fortunate to have one or two hugely talented footballers in his team as well,” Moyes said, during his latest press conference.

Conte has been a revelation for Tottenham. Coming in as a replacement for Nuno Espirito Santo, Spurs were a side filled with talent – but a side that were soft. The term ‘Spursy’ had often been coined in recent years by pundits.

But Conte has added grit. A nastiness, a resilience. They look like they can play at 70%, but still win matches on a regular basis. Sunday’s win over Forest is an example, still managing to keep a clean sheet. A 1-0 win over Wolves, too.

Tottenham look in great shape. Whether they can continue that run of form away at West Ham remains to be seen. But it is clear that West Ham will have to be at 100% to win, while Spurs could get a result without playing at their best.
