West Ham United boss David Moyes has suggested that winger Said Benrahma has now realised how to be a proper team player with the club.

The Hammers have started their season in fine form, winning two from two against Newcastle United and Leicester City.

West Ham’s attack is clicking, notching eight goals in their first two outings with Benrahma, Jarrod Bowen, Pablo Fornals and Michail Antonio all firing.

The real success story is Benrahma, who is really starting to thrive in the Premier League after a mixed first season in the top flight.

A star in the Championship at Brentford, Benrahma blew hot and cold last term and needed to really kick on this season.

That’s exactly what appears to be happening.

Benrahma has a goal and an assist in each of the first two games, already eclipsing last season’s goal tally after just 176 minutes of action.

The Algerian will no doubt know of the Jesse Lingard rumours emerging once again, but he is showing that he can be a star in West Ham’s attack.

Moyes has now told Football.London that he wasn’t sure Benrahma realised he needed to be a team player at West Ham have been the star attraction at Brentford.

Moyes now feels has Benrahma has realised his role at West Ham and is reaping the rewards, believing he is now settled in an ready to excel this season.

“I think Said needed to take stock and settle in and realise he had to be a team player as much as an individual, I wouldn’t have it any other way,” said Moyes. “I think that he had not realised that he is part of a team and we have to do all the right things together and because of that he’s actually getting these goals, he’s making goals, which is what we brought him for.”

“His numbers at Brentford were very good, whether it be goals and assists and I think his play is improving which we needed. He needed to improve his play and sometimes the boys coming into the Premier League from the Championship, and I can tell you loads of them who have I brought over the years, some can hit the ground running but in truth, most of them take a bit of time to settle and I think Said took a bit of time to settle,” he added.
