Sunderland have only had Victor Anichebe available once since the turn of the year.
Sunderland’s Victor Anichebe
David Moyes has suggested that Victor Anichebe will hopefully be back to help Sunderland’s fight for survival at the start of April, but suggested that the Watford clash may come too soon for the forward, the Chronicle reports.
Anichebe has only featured once for the Black Cats since the turn of the year due to a medial ligament injury, and in his absence Sunderland have picked up just one win and three draws and lost five games to sit six points adrift of safety with 11 games to go.
Unfortunately, the Black Cats will only have 10 games to go before Anichebe returns to being in contention. And Moyes has suggested that even the clash against the Hornets may be too early for the Nigerian.
“I’m hoping that getting Victor back at the beginning of April, we’re looking sort of another three weeks,” he said, as reported by the Chronicle. “Could he be back [for Watford]? I hope so but I’m not quite convinced.”

Since Anichebe’s most recent appearance, the Black Cats have failed to score in four of the five games they have played and many fans will surely point to how isolated Jermain Defoe has been as a key reason for their inability to find the back of the net.
But with the likes of Leicester, Bournemouth, Swansea and Hull still to play, there is still time for Sunderland to pull off yet another great escape, but many supporters may feel that their chances of pulling off such an escape will depend on whether Anichebe can stay fit for the rest of the campaign.
