West Ham United could be without Manuel Lanzini for their clash with Southampton tomorrow.
West Ham manager David Moyes spoke to reporters today, ahead of his side’s clash with Southampton tomorrow, and provided a fitness update on Manuel Lanzini, after the Argentine returned to the London Stadium from international duty carrying a knee injury, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The Hammers are currently in all sorts of trouble, and sit in 17th spot in the Premier League table, just two points clear of the drop zone, after a woeful run of form that has seen them win just once since January 13th.
Consistent problems with injuries have played their part in the east London outfit’s woful campaign thus far, and as if matters couldn’t get any worse, star man Lanzini returned to the club carrying a knock after being away with Argentina on international duty.
Moyes spoke to reporters during his pre-match press conference today, and responded when asked whether the Argentine has any chance whatsoever of playing against the Saints tomorrow, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“We’ve got a problem with Lanzini’s knee, as he got a knock and missed Argentina’s second game. We’re assessing it. He’s done a good bit of running so he’s got a chance.”
West Ham simply cannot afford to lose tomorrow, with games against Chelsea and Arsenal on the horizon, and a win against Mark Hughes’ side would be the ideal way to head into the final seven games of the season.
