The former West Ham United defender has been tipped to join Moyes at the London Stadium.
New West Ham United boss David Moyes has played down speculation he is set to add Stuart Pearce to his backroom staff.
Moyes is looking to fill the roles vacated by Nikola Jurcevic, Edin Terzic, Miljenko Rak and Dicks, who followed the Scot’s predecessor, Slaven Bilic, out of the London Stadium on Monday.
Pearce, along with Moyes allies Alan Irvine and Philip Neville, has been mooted as a possible appointment.
But when asked if the 55-year-old, who spent two years on West Ham’s books as a player, was returning to his old club, Moyes told Talksport [07/11/2017, 12:29]: “No, I think the name’s been bandied about.”
Moyes, though, later admitted that he is pursuing someone with West Ham connections, after losing another ex-Hammer in Dicks.
“I’ve got three or four people in mind. I want to add to the staff, I want a couple more people in,” he added. “And because I do need to sort of hit the ground running and win games, I do want people who I know and people who I’ve worked with.
“But I also want people who can tell me a lot about the club and tell me how this football club works exactly. As I said, I’ve got to get to know it very, very quickly.”
Pearce, who succeeded Dicks as West Ham left-back in 1999, has been out of management since leaving Nottingham Forest in 2015.
The former England international had previously had spells at Manchester City and with the Three Lions’ Under-21s.
Both Irvine and Neville have coached under Moyes at Everton and Manchester United respectively.
