David Moyes reportedly wanted West Ham United-linked Jack Butland when he was the Everton manager and the Stoke City goalkeeper was at Birmingham City.

Jack Butland is one of the better goalkeepers in the Premier League, and there is no surprise that West Ham United have been linked with the Stoke City star.
According to The Daily Mail (print edition, page 79, April 22, 2018), West Ham are preparing to make a £40 million bid for Butland and Stoke teammate Joe Allen, with the Potters looking likely to get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season (click here to read more).

Adrian is a good goalkeeper, but Joe Hart – signed on a season-long loan deal from Manchester city in the summer of 2017 – has not been great this season, and signing Butland would be a good move from the Hammers.
West Ham’s reported interest in the 25-year-old England international goalkeeper should not come as a surprise to anyone; after all, manager David Moyes had him on his radar back in 2012.

Back in December 2012, Sky Sports claimed that Moyes – then in charge of Everton – wanted to sign Butland, who was on the books of Birmingham at the time, and quoted him as saying: “We have asked a couple of times about Butland, but not recently. We are just looking out.”
If Stoke get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season, then it is unlikely that Butland will remain at the Bet365 Stadium, and perhaps Moyes will finally get to sign the goalkeeper he has been a long-term admirer of.
