David Moyes has told the Sunderland Echo that he cannot rule out the club selling players in future.
Moyes took charge at the Stadium of Light towards the end of last month, replacing Sam Allardyce after he took the England job.
His focus is firmly on bringing new signings to the club as soon as possible, with them yet to make a signing this summer and the start of the season just two weeks away.
First though he must convince one of his key men to stay as Lamine Kone has been linked with a move to Everton.
Whether he departs remains to be seen, but Moyes has admitted he cannot rule out selling players in future, much like he did at Everton.
“I’m always going to keep the best players, but I’m also going to move the club along. At different times things will have to change,” he told the Sunderland Echo.
“I would never say that it won’t happen. But I want to keep the best players and build a team. The more important thing is us bringing players in and bringing in players who can get us away from the wrong end of the league.”
It now remains to be seen whether Kone will stay at Sunderland this summer amid the reported interest from Everton.
There is no denying that a move to Goodison Park would be tempting, with the future looking bright under Ronald Koeman and Farhad Moshiri.
Moyes’ comments hint he would be willing to sell at the right price too, so it remains to be seen if the Blues will make a tempting enough bid.
