Speaking to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s vital 3-0 win over Hull City yesterday, Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford explained his desire to keep improving every week, as quoted by Sky Sports.
The 22-year-old stopper was magnificent again for the Black Cats yesterday, yet it was a sign of just how highly David Moyes rates him when the Sunderland boss described his display as one that he expects of Pickford, as quoted by Sky Sports:
“I thought he Pickford was just average today, just what I expect, really, from him. That gives you an idea. Some of the saves he has made in the last two games have been unbelievable. We have needed him, honestly. We have needed him today as much as we have needed the two centre-forwards.”
The Wearside outfit have managed to completely turn their season around with back-to-back Premier League wins, and despite still sitting three points adrift of safety, they are finally off of the bottom of the table, and can begin to look forward with genuine optimism.

Jermain Defoe’s goals have been absolutely vital to their revival, there is no doubting that, but without Pickford, there is no telling where Sunderland would be.
The young goalkeeper spoke to the media, and explained how he wants to keep improving, as quoted by Sky Sports:
“I always say to myself every level I have been on, the more games I play, the better I’ll get. I’m a keeper, I’m young, but I believe I am good enough as well, so I have just got to keep working hard in training and hopefully keep putting the performances in on a Saturday.”
The Black Cats will certainly need Pickford to be at his best over the next few weeks, with games against Liverpool, Chelsea and Premier League champions Leicester City all coming in their next four outings.
