David Moyes has applauded Liverpool goalkeeper Alissonas per BBC Live’s coverage of the Premier League – for his penalty save during Wednesday night’s clash between the Reds and West Ham at Anfield. Liverpool secured a 1-0 win.

Darwin Nunez scored what proved to be the only goal of the game with a brilliant header, his fifth goal for Liverpool. But it could have easily gone the other way at Anfield, West Ham getting in behind on numerous occasions.

The likes of Gianluca Scamacca and most-definitely Tomas Soucek, had golden chances. Somehow, Soucek did not equalise, with James Milner producing a quite stunning block. It was Jarrod Bowen who had a chance from the spot.

However, the England star’s penalty – which has to be said, was well-taken and right in the corner – was expertly stopped by Alisson. The Brazilian tipped it wide, and Moyes has heaped praise on the £190k-a-week stopper.

“It was a wonderful save from Alisson. Jarrod scored a good penalty the other week and we have to give credit to the goalkeeper. We think a lot of Jarrod and he will be fine,” Moyes told Amazon Prime, as quoted by BBC Live’s coverage.

Moyes applauds Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson for penalty save

Bowen, 25, has already clocked up 16 appearances this season. After a slot start, he is just coming into some good form and his penalty was a brilliant one. Unfortunately for him and West Ham, Alisson is one of the best in the world.

The winger was unable to make it three goals in four Premier League games. But it was not just he who missed chances. Soucek has been poor this season and a goal at Anfield would have helped his confidence, but he dallied.

A split second allowed Milner to get back in and save two points for his team. West Ham looked good, they are improving but ultimately, they come away with nothing. Moyes will look at the positives from his side, though.
