Sunderland lost 2-0 to Manchester City in their most recent outing.

David Moyes has revealed to the Shields Gazette that Darron Gibson asked to be taken off during Sunderland’s match against Manchester City at the weekend.
Sunderland were beaten 2-0 by City in their most recent outing, and Gibson was withdrawn just beyond the hour mark.
It is thought that Gibson’s injury is not too severe, but the January signing did ask to come off before full-time, after feeling some pain.
“He just felt his knee a bit,” Moyes said. “He said it at half-time so I knew we would only get 15-20 minutes second half after that.”
Gibson has struggled with injuries throughout his career, so Sunderland will be hoping the central-midfielder is not sidelined for a lengthy period of time.
Sunderland already have a number of key players on the treatment table, and Moyes has expressed a need for a fully fit squad to pick from as the pressure builds.
Sunderland are currently six points adrift of safety, with time running out for the Wearsiders to save themselves again.
Sunderland have pulled off some great escapes in the past, but there is a concern that getting out of trouble will be too much for them this time around.
The Black Cats are next in action in two weekends’ time, when they take on Burnley in a match which they simply have to win.
