West Ham United’s Michail Antonio is set for scans to assess the severity of his injury, but could miss the rest of the season.
Antonio was taken off during West Ham’s match against Southampton, and could now miss the rest of the campaign.
Moyes has confirmed that Antonio needs to see a consultant to assess the severity of the campaign.
But there are concerns that the winger could have to undergo surgery to correct the issue.
Moyes wrote in the Standard: “Against Southampton, although Michail Antonio’s injury was really bad news, both for him and us, Edimilson Fernandes’ introduction did thicken up our midfield.
“Speaking of Michail, it’s the same leg where he suffered his previous hamstring injury which necessitated an operation, but not in the same place.
“We’re going to consult more than one specialist about his injury.
“We have only seven games left this season, so we will take our time and make the right decision on whether he needs further surgery or that time will heal the problem.”
Antonio has missed a large chunk of this campaign with injury, and his failure to stay off the treatment table has been a blow for Moyes’ side’s chances.
West Ham were not badly impacted by Antonio’s injury against Southampton, though.
The Hammers beat the Saints 3-0 to take a giant stride closer to safety.
West Ham are now in 14th place in the Premier League table, five points above the drop zone.
