Former Everton and Manchester United manager David Moyes has included Hugo Lloris and Dimitri Payet in his Euro 2016 Team of the Tournament for The Sunday Times.
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Lloris and West Ham United attacking midfielder Payet have been key players in France’s march to the final of the 2016 European Championship.
Moyes has included the duo in his Team of the Tournament in a 4-2-3-1 formation and has spoken highly of them.
France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris
“He has been comfortable in everything he’s done, making some big saves and — the sign of a good keeper — he hasn’t been noticed too much,” Moyes wrote about Lloris in The Sunday Times.
“His distribution has been tidy, too, albeit that France, who tend to kick out to Sagna or for Pogba to flick on, ask him to take fewer risks than Manuel Neuer or Gigi Buffon.”
“Payet is on the left,” added Moyes. “His ability to make a goal or create a goal, whether it’s to drop back onto his right foot and shoot, or come in off the line and link, he’s had a very good tournament.
“He has been one of the stars of the French team and was probably the one who stepped up and carried it in the early stages while Griezmann and Pogba were finding their feet.”
France star Dimitri Payet
Lloris is one of the best goalkeepers on the planet and is a world-class footballer.
The Tottenham goalkeeper has kept three clean sheets in six matches for France at the 2016 European Championship so far.
The 29-year-old has made 1.33 saves per game and 2.00 saves per goal on average at the tournament.
Payet enjoyed a great 2015-16 campaign for West Ham, and he has carried that form into Euro 2016.
The attacking midfielder has scored three goals and created 21 chances in six matches for France at the 2016 European Championship so far.
The 29-year-old former Marseille star has a pass accuracy of 83% and a shot accuracy of 50%, and has won 15 dribbles and two tackles.
