Sunderland were beaten 1-0 during their most recent match against Tottenham Hotspur.

David Moyes has told the Northern Echo that he felt Didier Ndong did a good job for Sunderland, during their 1-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane yesterday.

Ndong became Sunderland’s record signing during the previous transfer window, but he has been used sparingly by Moyes so far.

The midfielder has been kept out of Moyes’ first-team, but he was handed his maiden start against Spurs.

And Moyes said: “I thought Dider Ndong played really well for us today, he gave us a youthful energy, legs, and he got around the pitch for us.”

Despite Ndong’s encouraging display, Sunderland were not able to hold on to claim a point at White Hart Lane.

Spurs dominated the match for large periods, and registered 31 shots on Sunderland’s goal throughout the contest.

Although the Black Cats managed to keep most of Tottenham’s attempts out – largely thanks to the excellent display of Jordan Pickford – they eventually conceded when Harry Kane finished from close range.

Sunderland are still looking for their first Premier League victory this season, and currently sit in 19th place in the table.
