Everton’s lack of squad depth was obvious during their 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United.
David Moyes is already dealing with a limited selection due to injuries and suspensions.
Still, changes are expected in January once the transfer window opens, with departures likely alongside any new signings.
Everton News understands that the club plan to bring in both a striker and a full-back next month to add depth where it is needed most.
The club were busy over the summer during The Friedkin Group’s first transfer window in charge, but more additions will be required if Everton want to improve their standing this season.
Consequently, it appears likely that some players will be released to accommodate new arrivals at Merseyside.
Everton looking to move three players ahead of January window

The Athletic reports that Everton may be prepared to part ways with three players in January using various methods.
The club are open to sending Adam Aznou out on loan to help him gain more playing time away from Goodison Park.
Goalkeeper Harry Tyrer could also leave next month, with both loan and permanent options being considered by the Toffees.
Nathan Patterson was close to joining Sevilla over the summer before the move fell through. Now, he is expected to be made available again when the window opens.
Even with limited options at full-back, Everton appear willing to let certain players move on. This reflects where their focus lies ahead of the window opening.
Everton desperate for attack-minded full-backs
Moyes has already been calling for more attacking contributions from his full-backs this season.
So far, though, it just has not happened – neither Jake O’Brien nor Vitalii Mykolenko have managed a single goal or assist through 13 matches.
James Garner has echoed Moyes’ frustrations, especially after O’Brien was left out of the side against Fulham.
Still, the situation in midfield then pushed Garner back into his natural position, once again highlighting Everton’s issues at full-back.
With Iliman Ndiaye set to head off to the Africa Cup of Nations, the rest of the squad will need to pick up the slack.
Getting more forward threat from full-back would make a huge difference, and so far it is just not happening with this group.
